Materials to confirm with your Guruswamy

  • A clean two-compartment Irumudi bag.
  • The coconut and ghee for Neythenga.
  • Additional coconuts and offering materials used by your group.
  • Rice, flowers and other pooja materials where prescribed by the officiant.
  • Permitted wrapping and provisions, with quantities confirmed before purchase.

Before buying a kit

Ask for the list used by your group, including the coconuts, ghee and pooja materials they require. Confirm quantities locally rather than assuming that a commercial kit is complete.

Separate ritual and travel items

Have your Guruswamy guide the ritual preparation and packing. Carry personal travel supplies separately, respecting the rules explained by your group.

Carry responsibly

Keep packaging to a minimum. Check official restrictions on materials and follow forest and waste-disposal instructions along the route.
