How to read this table
The source groups the steps as five senses, eight emotions, three gunas, knowledge and ignorance. Individual ordering and English reflections here make that grouped interpretation readable; they are not official individual step names or a universal ritual mapping. Other traditions connect the steps with hills, deities or other symbolism.
Ascending with Irumudi
For ordinary pilgrims, the traditional ascent requires the observance and Irumudi. Follow the queue and temple directions on the day; do not stop on the steps to study this table or perform additional acts.
